L2 Aerospace (L2) was established in 2010 by General Lance W. Lord (USAF-Ret) as an adaptive and innovative company to shape and influence the business competition in the dynamic commercial, civil and government markets. L2 Aerospace and its dedicated team of professionals is organized and postured to integrate capabilities across the ground, air and space markets to provide impeccable customer value and satisfaction at the lowest possible cost.

Capabilities

L2 is comprised of two seperate business units focused on delivering innovative Engineering Services and ISR Flight Systems.

The L2 Engineering Services division provides our government and private sector customers with responsive and cost effective services over a broad range of engineering disciplines. Our goal is to exceed customer expectations in the quality and timeliness of the services we provide.

The primary goal of our ISR and Flight Systems division is to produce innovative, flexible and low cost ISR solutions supporting military, civilian and commercial customers. L2 unmanned systems are simple, transportable and readily deployable for instant SA in both close and long range scenarios and provide high performance, rapid response ISR/SA capability from altitudes between 1 and 200 km. Our development approach is to meet the ever changing real world requirements by focusing on complete turn key systems.

OUR MANAGEMENT TEAM

General Lance W. Lord (USAF-Ret)

Chief Executive Officer

Prior to retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 2006 after 37 years of service, Gen. Lord, served as commander, Air Force Space Command at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado. He was responsible for the development, acquisition and operation of the Air Force’s space and missile systems. The general oversaw a global network of satellite command and control, communications, missile warning and launch facilities, ensuring the combat readiness of America’s intercontinental ballistic missile force. He led more than 39,700 space professionals who provided combat forces and capabilities to North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Strategic Command.

He is a member of the President’s Space-Based Position, Navigation and Timing Advisory Board

Jim Royston

Chief Operating Officer

Jim Royston brings more than 20 years of industry senior management experience to L2 Aerospace. Prior to joining L2, Royston served as the President of Astrotech Corporation.

Royston previously served as a Director for United Space Alliance at KSC, the KSC Operations Director for Hubble Space Telescope Program, and he also served as a program manager at NASA Headquarters.

Mr. Royston has owned and operated multiple successful startup companies involving systems software development and engineering.

Jim holds seven U.S. technology and software patents, and his papers have been published in multiple technical publications. Among other accolades, Mr. Royston was the recipient of NASA’s prestigious HQ Innovation award.

Sam Deriso

Chief Engineer

Sam Deriso brings more than 20 years of diverse engineering experience on various military systems to L2.

Prior to joining L2, Deriso served as the Senior Design Engineer for DRS Sustainment Systems.   Mr. Deriso was responsible for several R&D programs to include: US Army TMOD Singars Radio Testing Unit; Missile Warning System and Directional Infrared Counter Measure System (DIRCM) On-Aircraft automated test systems resulting in multiple patent submissions;  Coherent Pulse Doppler missile warning system threat simulator; among other leading edge technologies.

Additionally, Mr. Deriso’s experience includes UV/IR/Radar missile detection systems, long range thermal imaging systems, and 0.1-40GHz Radar Warning systems.
